Considering Relationship Counseling?
There are many reasons to explore couples' therapy.
You may be feeling disconnected from each other, misunderstood, or find communication is a struggle.
You may find yourselves having the same arguments over and over again, and wondering if anything will ever change.
You may not be on the same page about big life decisions like marriage, having kids, or finances.
There could be a breakdown in trust or trauma that needs to be addressed.
You could be noticing dysfunctional patterns that you want to address before they become larger problems.
Couples therapy can help.
Why Emotion-Focused Therapy?
EFT is designed to help couples create secure emotional bonds, improve communication, and resolve conflicts.
Research using real life couples shows that EFT works!
It helps partners build stronger emotional connections, understand each other more deeply, and learn new communication patterns.
How does couples counseling work?
You probably have questions about how couples therapy works - so we aim to make the process clear and simple. Below is a step-by-step of how we get started.
1
Free 20-minute consultation
The first step is just meeting our couples therapist for an informal chat. This is totally free and no-obligation. You can ask questions, and she will get to know a little bit about what you are looking for.
2
80-minute intake session
If you want to proceed after the consultation, you can schedule your first session. This will be a longer session so that our couples therapist can get to know you better, figure out your goals, and make a plan for how to help. Each of you will fill out a separate intake form.
3
50-minute individual session
After the initial intake session, our couples therapist will meet with each of you individually for an hour-long session. This helps get a deeper and authentic understanding of each person's perspective and enables her to better help both partners.
4
50-minute couples sessions
Now we would proceed with regularly scheduled couples' sessions to work towards your goals. Your therapist will continuously discuss progress and the therapeutic direction with you, and ensure that you feel comfortable, informed, and empowered throughout.
