What is EFT Therapy?

Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) is a powerful therapeutic approach that centers on the role of emotions in our mental health and relationships.

EFT is rooted in the belief that understanding and processing our emotions can lead to profound personal growth and healing.

Through EFT, we can discover what our emotions are telling us, and understand that they are vital sources of information.

Rather than viewing our emotions as obstacles and struggling against them, they can become our allies.

What should I expect from EFT?

Emotionally-Focused Therapy is collaborative process between therapist and client, where emotions are explored, understood, and transformed. It often includes the following:

  1. Emotional Awareness: Clients learn to recognize and articulate their emotions.

  2. Emotion Processing: The therapist guides clients in exploring their emotional experiences in depth. This may involve revisiting past events, understanding emotional triggers, and recognizing patterns that impact current well-being.

  3. Emotion Regulation: Clients develop skills to manage and regulate their emotions effectively. This includes learning how to cope with overwhelming feelings and harnessing emotions as a source of strength.

  4. Integration and Change: As clients gain insight into their emotional experiences, they begin to integrate these insights into their lives. This often leads to changes in behavior, improved relationships, and a greater sense of self-acceptance.
